Locum Consultant Geriatrician - Acute Medicine

BHRUT is one of the largest acute trusts in the UK serving a population of 750,000 from a wide range of social and ethnic groups, The trust provides specialist trauma, oncology, neurosciences, hyper acute, stroke and critical care services. We are also currently developing our capacity to act as the main tertiary referral centre for North East London & Essex.

 

Queen’s Hospital has an excellent academic centre with a vibrant educational programme.

The Trust is in an excellent location, close to Central London and well situated in the South East. As well as all the advantages of being close to the City, the Trust has on-site nursery facilities at Queen’s and King George Hospital sites with excellent transport links into Romford from Central London, North and South Essex.

 

Applicants are invited to apply for this exciting Locum Consultant Geriatrician post at Barking, Havering University Trust Hospitals NHS Trust. This is a fixed term contract for one year.

 

We are looking for an enthusiastic and innovative professional to join a growing team of Geriatricians with varying interests and skills to enhance and develop our current service provision. The Department currently provides specialist services for acute frailty, falls, dementia, orthogeriatrics, surgical liaison, Parkinson’s disease. The Trust is keen to develop an outstanding geriatric service and is looking for a highly motivated and innovative physician to supplement the present team.

 

As a Locum Consultant joining BHRUT you will play a crucial role in ensuring the success of the department which consists of the Elders Receiving Unit, Short Stay ward and 5 Acute Elderly Wards.   Teaching and development of medical students and trainees is an integral part of the role as well as participation in research and audit activities in the department. Duties may also include teaching, lectures or workshops for other departments, nurses, GPs and others.
